A Special Thanks!

We have just realized that one of our first donors has yet to be formally thanked by us! Widby Labels out of Tennessee heard about Cases For Cheer, Inc. through the power of the internet! At the time they heard about us, they jumped to get involved!

Don Widby of Widby Labels created and donated the labels which are now sewn with love into each pillowcase reminding the recipient that people out there care as well as sharing the memory of our Aunt Willie.

We know many of you out there sew and we just really wanted to share Mr. Widby's generosity. When looking to get labels made for your projects please check out Widby Labels and support a company that supports Cases For Cheer!

We Couldn't Have Done It Without...

Please check out our newest page! This page highlights the local businesses which have been so important in helping us get the word out, increase our sewing circle, publicize and highlighting Cases! Thank you so much! Please check out this page, and when you need anything, help support those that have supported us! Woo Hoo!!!

HUGE Thank YOU!!!

We want to thank everyone who donated to make our yard sale a success!!! We were able to raise the funds to purchase more fabric! Woo Hoo!!! All items not sold were donated to the American Cancer Society Thrift Store in Elk Grove! We figured it was the most appropriate place to help those with cancer!

Also we made our June delivery and were able to take 40 pillowcases this month!!! That is double our previous deliveries and we hope to make 50 next month!!! We split it up to donate 20 to both the adult and pediatric cancer centers. If we can get our cases finished we can make it 25!

Any seamstresses interested in volunteering their skills are welcome to join us! Just send us an email or give us a call!

UC Davis Survivors Picnic

What a wonderful event!!! UC Davis Cancer Center holds a survivor's picnic every year. This year CFC was invited to come to lunch and host a table where we were able to share CFC with the patients and staff!!! How exciting!!! Becky Garrett and her friend were our spokeswomen for this event and made some very exciting connections!!!

We were very happy to hear that patients understood what we were trying to accomplish with Madison's vision and they really believed that these cases can make a difference in the spirits of those fighting cancer. We are thrilled!!!

CFC was invited to join a health fair in September, more details to follow, and also a local media personality took an interest and we hope to announce soon an interview and opportunity to share CFC with the viewers!

We want to thank Patti Robinson with UC Davis for inviting us to join the picnic, and allowing us to share CFC.

Elk Grove Citizen Interview!

Yesterday Madison, was interviewed by Katie Freeman a reporter with our local newspaper, the Elk Grove Citizen!  Maddie was so nervous she told me after the interview, but to be honest, I didn't even noticed, she was cool, calm and collected.  She said she just wanted to get the news out there about CFC so we can expand!  Normally, I don't toot my own horn.... or in this case her own horn, but I am soooo proud of her! She exceeded my expectations and everything she said came from her heart we did no coaching or preparing, so we are hoping for a stellar article with all of Madison's heart woven through it.

You can pick on up at the Elk Grove Citizen Office, or at local stores that carry them for 35 cents!  They will be coming out this Friday on May 21st!!!  Hopefully they will also post it online for those of you who are not local.  Anyone out of town can contact us and we will try to get you a copy!

Testimonials

Please take a look at our newest page. You will see our pages listed to the right.  Testimonials is our newest page and we will be including correspondence with permission from those who wrote us, to share the difference Cases For Cheer, Inc. is making in the lives of those that have cancer.  Please take the time to read the letters from Nancy Lewis, an RN Charge Nurse at the UCDMC pediatric infusion center. You will see that your donations really do make a difference in the life of a child and of a patient at the UC Davis Medical Centers pediatric and adult infusion centers.

Coming to a Television Near You!!!

Hello everyone!  We just got word that Madison will be doing two interviews!  One for a local newspaper and one for a local morning television news show!  Woo Hoo!!!  We surely hope this will help us get the word out and grow our organization!!!  We will definitely let you know when both happen and when you can catch them on your tv, and in the paper!

We couldn't have gotten this far with the help and support of our family, friends, and the volunteers and those who have taken up our cause to help us!  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for getting us going!  Please keep spreading the word so that we may keep up the growth and get those cases flowing out to the cancer centers for the patients who need to be cheered on in the fight for their lives.

God Bless.

May Delivery and More!

May 10th we delivered our pillowcases to the UC Davis Cancer Center. Patti Robinson the volunteer coordinator for the Cancer Center Resource Center was extremely thrilled with the new fabrics and how diverse they were. We were able to deliver cases for Men, Women, and children! We had everything from fishing, to cupcakes, to cats and dogs. We even had some cool race car prints with flames!

Cases For Cheer works hard to make these special for the patients who receive them.  Each are packaged in their own bag for sanitation purposes and labeled with our mission on them.  It is important to us that the patients are able to access them freely and know that people out there care.  We will be adding baskets to the infusion rooms for ease of distribution with our next delivery!

We are here for the patients, so if you are a patient at UC Davis Cancer Center, we want to hear from you! Suggestions, comments, let us know how we are doing!  If you are a doctor or patient at another local cancer center, let us know if you wish to have our Cases at your facility!  We wish to expand and reach you all!

First Sewing Class June 2nd!!! New Donation Opportunities!

CFC, Inc. is holding it's first sewing class on June 2nd at 630 pm at The Running Zone on Elk Grove Blvd.  Mimi Viega was kind enough to loan out their location!  If you sew or know someone who does, please pass this on!  We need those experienced people who sew (men or women!) to come learn our pattern so that we can increase our sewing circle and grow our production to possibly expand our donations to other area cancer centers!!! We will have kits on hand that you can take home and sew!  Please RSVP so we know how many to have, and if you can, please bring your machine! The Running Zone is also taking fabric donations.  Fabric needs to be very soft (good thread count) 100% cotton, so that it is breathable for patients as they get hot, and clammy and have said that these work great!  The fabric also needs to be from a 42" bolt or larger for our pattern. We love vibrant, cheerful patterns and need fabric for men, women and children!

Please note our new pages for "In Memory Of" and "In Honor Of".  You can now donate in memory or in honor of someone special to you, and their names will be listed on these walls.  With Mother's day approaching, this is a wonderful way to honor the ones you love!

Also, for about $7 you can provide a cancer patient with a pillowcase that will cheer them up during their treatments and hospital stays!  For $7 you can hardly buy a lunch out anymore!  Please think about how many cases you can donate this month, and help us, help others!

Our Next Delivery and Momentum is Building!!

Word is spreading and we are so thankful for all of our friends, family, and Facebook fans for getting the word out!!! We were blessed enough to be directed to Mimi Viega at The Running Zone who is also going to be getting the word out via their database! Thank you!!!  I encourage you all to join The Running Zone's Facebook Page to thank them for their support!  Also if you use athletic shoes, stop into their store  at 8470 Elk Grove Blvd., you will be glad you did! The Running Zone is a Fabric Drop off Zone!!!  Anyone who wants to donate Fabric, Fabric Store Gift Cards or Monetary donations made to Cases For Cheer, Inc. can either mail them to us or drop them off locally at The Running Zone!  Thank You Mimi!!!

We will be making our next delivery next week!  We are very excited to get this going again!  Patty Robinson at UC Davis is glad to have us back!!!  We will be taking 20 cases to the infusion center, and will update you once that occurs!

We are still in need of material in order to keep us going!  Donations of material are always needed, the specifications of the material needed are listed under the "How You Can Help" page. Also we can use monetary donations for materials also.  We understand that in these tough economic times, giving is very hard, and a true sacrifice.  Did you know that for $7.00 you can donate a pillowcase? Just seven dollars!  That is the cost of a lunch out (maybe).  Please consider donating the cost of a case, or as many cases as you like to help us give cheer to people fighting this terrible disease, and let them know people who don't even know who they are care!

Also we are adding pages to our blog.  They will be "In Honor Of" and "In Memory Of"  If you donate in honor of someone fighting cancer, or in memory of someone who has passed, their names (and date of passing if you wish) will be listed on these walls.

300 Hits and a Huge: Thank You!!!

Thank you everyone for spreading the word about Cases for Cheer!!!  We have now had 300 hits on our site!  Woo hoo!!!  This is very important as we are indeed in the process of working towards getting more cases made for our May delivery!  Madison is just thrilled at the outpouring of support and will be posting herself soon.

Please keep spreading the word as hopefully as the word spreads people will help us get the funds to make cases and grow! There is no donation too small.  We know that in these economic times, giving is very hard and such a selfless act that we cannot help be overwhelmed by everyone's support.

Let's see if we can get to 400 hits by the end of the week!!!  Woo Hoo!!!
