Special Delivery

(L-R Camden, Jenn, Madison, Patty Robinson, Becky Garrett)
In early September we made our October donation of cases due to the face that Jenn, Maddie's mom, had just had a baby and wanted to be sure that U. C. Davis Cancer center got their monthly delivery should she be consumed with baby duties.
This was a special delivery. We had made an appointment so Madison could meet Patty Robinson who is the Volunteer Coordinator for the Cancer center. Patty was so wonderful, she asked Madison about her motivations for this project, and allowed Madison to tell her all about how she makes the case. Maddie was so proud.
While there, we were shown around a bit by Becky, daughter of Aunt Willie, who would accompany her to her many treatments. It is very eye opening. We all here of the battle one wages against cancer, and we can even see the physical effects of this ravaging disease on our loved ones and friends. To see though, the many people who are bravely fighting the fight, with such determination, with such strength is humbling to the rest of us.
We are so blessed by our health, we need to never be complacent about it. We need to be vigilant to maintain our health, be ready to fight the fight should it come to our doorstep, and to help others fight theirs. Whether we help by donating to research, donating to causes such as Cases for Cheer, or just the simple act of being there for someone who is fighting the fight, we all need to get involved! Please pass on our site, and help us help others by getting the word out about our project. Thank you!

Our Second Delivery has been Accomplished!

September 2nd Madison completed her Second delivery of pillow cases! We have to thank everyone who has helped us get this off the ground! Without you, this wouldn't be possible! Although most do not want to be acknowledged I want to thank you indirectly, The UFO group (Unfinished Objects) came together and finished 15 cases for us as well as numerous kits! Also friends and family who have come together to get us started with enough funds to get our initial cases made. Until we get our tax id and can ask for donations, this has been paramount in getting Cases off the ground!

More information is coming soon!!! As Madison has met with the volunteer Coordinator at the UC Davis Cancer Center's Resource Center. More to follow!

Our First Cancer Center Donation!!!

We are celebrating our first donation of our Pillowcases to the UC Davis Cancer Center today! We were able to take 20 cases for our first donation! Woo Hoo!!! We hope to be able to add more each month, but we also hope to be able to add cancer centers too! Once our complete incorporation comes through we hope that we will be able by the help of donations to increase the cheer spread around to those fighting for their lives!!! With cheer can come hope, and with hope, strength!

We would also like to share with you Aunt Willie's life verse. It is inspiring and hope giving all on it's own. Praise be to God.

“but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”
-Isaiah 40:31

Again we appreciate the support of those who have given their talents, and time to making this become a reality. We look forward to growing and spreading the word. Thank you all so much.

The Angels Are Singing

We wanted to update you on our Aunt Willie. Aunt Willie passed away and made her journey to heaven on July 4th 2009. While this brings us great sadness at the loss of our Aunt, and more than we can imagine to my Uncle and Cousins, we acknowledge that she is now with the Lord and no longer in pain from her illness of this world.

As Madison has said, it is fitting that she go on the 4th of July, because while we are celebrating our freedoms and liberties, Aunt Willie is now free from her pain and her hospital bed. Words cannot express what she meant to us or added to our lives. We were blessed to have her in our lives.

We want to bring honor to her, and share her with others by our Cases for Cheer, and we intend on taking this as far as wide as we can, starting locally with UC Davis Cancer Center. If you are willing or interested in helping, please email us at casesforcheer@gmail.com . We can give you the information you are needing from there.

Also if you would like to make the pillowcases but are unsure how, we will be offering a class once a month to take you through the steps to create these cases in the pattern necessary for donation under our Cases for Cheer Donation and Sewing Guidelines.

The angels are singing, for they are receiving one of the best! God Bless You all, and hold your families near and tight.

Great News!!!

I just spoke with the Outreach administrator for UC Davis' Cancer Center and they are happy to accept our pillowcases! They are ready anytime we can get them to them. They are looking forward to using them in their infusion rooms, but will also hand them out to patients as we wish! We would really like them to be able to go home with them as well but the infusion room is a great start! It should cheer up the chemo rooms in no time!!! We can also talk to the Oncology floor about using them for their rooms!

So I guess we are just about ready to begin, we will start small scale by word of mouth until we can get the non-profit status. If anyone would like to donate monies toward fabrics and thread, and/or would like to sew the cases (we have the pattern) we would appreciate any and all help! Please email us at casesforcheer@gmail.com .

Thank You For Your Support!

Thank you everyone for the overwhelming support we are receiving! We are anxious to get this going, but we know we need to get our ground work done first. We are currently working on getting our non-profit status established so that we can request donations and allow donations, with our contributors feeling confident that their resources and time are going to a bonafide program. We also have a call into UC Davis' Cancer Center where Aunt Willie has been treated to find out about the procedure for donations.

Once we get these two blocks in place we look forward to all the help we can get. There will be several ways to help Cases for Cheer. We will need help with monetary donations, fabric and thread donations, donations of time sewing the cases, and any other of your God given talents will be appreciated. This effort is started by Maddie, but will need many to sustain it and make it successful. We look forward to what the future brings in her endeavor, in honor of my Aunt.
